A 74-year-old woman has been hospitalized after she was struck in the median of Federal Boulevard early Friday morning by a 17-year-old boy, authorities said.

The woman, who has not been identified, was in serious condition, but is expected to survive, said Cheri Spottke, Westminster police spokeswoman.

No traffic citations have been issued. The teen stayed at the accident location.

“She was standing in the median. Most likely the pedestrian is going to be at fault but they’re still investigating,” Spottke said.

The boy turned from Stratford Lakes Boulevard onto Federal Boulevard at about 6:45 a.m. and hit the woman in the painted median, Spottke said.

All lanes of traffic have been reopened.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
