Three people managed to flee a pickup truck just before a freight train crushed it and hurled it aside like a crumpled aluminum beer can at a Brighton train crossing Thursday night.

Brighton Fire Rescue released a statement and photograph Friday morning that showed the damaged pickup truck.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. at 144th Avenue and Highway 85.

“All passengers got out of the pickup before impact and there were no injuries,” the fire department tweet says.
