A man was convicted Wednesday on four counts of attempted first-degree murder for firing at Thornton police officers during a burglary last year, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

In the early morning of Nov. 13, 2017, police responded to a burglary in progress. Darren Ross Hoffman, 23, initially complied with officers’ orders to place his hands over his head, but then turned around and ran. Hoffman then fired six shots at officers from behind a vehicle before placing the gun on the hood of the car, the district attorney’s office said.

None of the officers were hurt.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 28 in Adams County District Court.
