An electrical fire that erupted at a southeast Arvada home sent seven people and four pets out into the cold early Saturday morning. No one was injured.

Arvada Fire Protection District spokeswoman MichelleCherniske said the fire was reported at about 2 a.m. Saturday. She said the house’s smoke alarms went off and all the people and the animals were able to get out of the house quickly.

The fire was contained to one area of the building. Cherniske described the damage to the home as moderate. She said it was an electrical fire, but the cause had not been determined.

It was about 9 degrees outside when the fire broke out. Cherniske said the fire department worked with the Red Cross to find temporary shelter for the people.

Two engines and a rescue truck responded to the fire. Cherniske said firefighters were able to use an extinguisher to contain some of the flames, so the water damage was minimal.

The people in the house were checked by medical staffers at the scene. No one went to the hospital.
