Could Colorado’s own Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone be Conor McGregor’s next UFC opponent?
After Cerrone defeated Alexander Hernandez with a head kick that led to technical knockout in their lightweight bout at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night, McGregor took to Twitter for a quick statement: “For a fight like that Donald, I’ll fight you. Congratulations.”
“If those guys want that and fans want to see it, that’s what I do,” UFC president Dana White said in the post-fight press conference.
Not everyone is happy about McGregor’s comment. Lightweight contender saying, “If Conor doesn’t have to fight (Tony) Ferguson, Dustin (Poirier), myself OR (Kevin) Lee next he’s an absolute Nancy… smart guy.. but Nancy.”
Cerrone, 35, tried landing a fight against McGregor for UFC 196 in 2016, but the Irish fighter took a fight with Nate Diaz instead.
