A pair of Colorado’s top girls basketball players will be showcasing their talents on a national scale.
Seniors Fran Belibi of Regis Jesuit High School and Ashten Prechtel of Discovery Canyon were named to the McDonald’s All-American Game’s West roster on Thursday. They’re the first Colorado players to be named since former Grandview and now UCLA forward Michaela Onyenwere was selected in 2017.
Belibi, a 6-foot-1 forward, is averaging 22.3 points and 13.1 rebounds for the 15-2 Raiders this season. She made national news after becoming the first girl in state history to dunk during a game, a feat she has performed on several occasions.
Prechtel, a 6-foot-5 center, is averaging 21.9 points, 16.7 rebounds and 5.4 blocks for the 9-7 Discovery Canyon squad this year.
Both Belibi and Prechtel are committed to going to Stanford next year.
The McDonald’s All-American Games will take place March 27 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
