A woman was injured late Thursday night when a van carrying nine people collided with an elk on the outskirts of Hayden, officials say.

The woman, who has not been identified, was not seriously injured, according to Trooper Gary Cutler, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.

The van carrying nine skiers with Park City Freestyle Skiing Education Foundation collided with an elk at 10:13 p.m., Culter said.

Eight students were not injured, he said. Parents of the skiing class drove from Steamboat Springs to pick the skiers up, Cutler said.

The van had significant damage, he said.
