The pared-down Colorado Classic bike tour has picked up its first title sponsor in VF Corp., the parent company of The North Face, JanSport, Eagle Creek, Altra and Smartwool. A two-year agreement to provide financial and marketing support for the race was announced at a news conference Wednesday.

VF Corp. officials revealed last summer that its global headquarters would move from Greenboro, N.C., to Denver. The Colorado Classic, created in 2017 with men’s and women’s racing, will be a women-only event this year when it is staged Aug. 22-25.

“With an eye toward Colorado becoming our new home, we’ve been exploring a lot of ways to begin integrating into the state,” said VF spokesman Craig Hodges. “VF isn’t just moving to Colorado, we truly want to be part of Colorado.”
