“Big Al” has left “The Drive.”

Alfred Williams, the former Broncos defensive lineman turned radio personality, is no longer with Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan, the radio station announced on Thursday. Williams had been the co-host of “The Drive” with Darren “D-Mac” McKee.

“Alfred “Big Al” Williams has chosen to leave the station effective today,” 104.3 released in a statement. “We thank Alfred for his many contributions during his years with The Fan and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Orlando Frankin co-hosted with McKee on Thursday.

Williams, 50, has been a long-time staple of Colorado sports. A two-time All-American linebacker with the Colorado Buffaloes, he was part of the program’s National Championship team in 1990.

He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 18th pick in the first round of the 1991 NFL draft. He had a stop with the 49ers in 1995 before coming back to Colorado to join the Broncos from 1996-99, where he was part of Denver’s Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII winning squads.

“This place is magical to me,” Williams said in a 2010 interview with The Denver Post. “I’ve lived in different parts of the country and visited several places, and I always come back.”
