Thursday afternoon will be the last hurrah for sunshine before a spring storm brings a mixture of rain, snow and thunderstorms, according to forecasters.
Even though it will be mostly sunny, the cool front will keep Denver cooler than it has been the last few balmy days. The high temperature will be around 68 degrees in downtown Denver, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Rain will start falling in the afternoon and continue into the evening. It will be breezy with gusts up to 18 mph, the weather service says. The chance for rain increases through the night.
Friday will be much cooler, with a high temperature near 47 degrees, the NWS says. Sporadic rain is expected through the day. The rain will turn to snow after 7 p.m. Friday night, the NWS says. Winds will gust up to 29 mph.
As much as an inch of new snow could accumulate Friday night, forecasters say.
Cooler today with increasing clouds from frontal push. Isolated storms possible on plains by the afternoon. Snow possible Friday eve.
