A man charged with the murder of his mother in Weld County appeared in court Wednesday, and a judge ruled that the case will go forward.

Weld County Sheriff's Office
Joseph Keith Ribble

Joseph Ribble, 43, of Aurora, is charged with killing his mother, stealing her vehicle and fleeing to Texas, according to the district attorney’s office. The body of 65-year-old Lila Ann King was found inside her home in July 2018.

Ribble was arrested in Texas and extradited to Colorado in August 2018. He has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

Weld District Judge Julie Hoskins ruled Wednesday at a preliminary hearing that there’s enough evidence to move forward with the case.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 17.
