The weekend weather is wrapping up with mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures on Sunday, though high wind gusts are expected over the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a high near 68 degrees in Denver on Sunday and a low near 43 degrees. The wind gusts in Denver are expected to be light and variable during the day and reach 6 mph in the evening.

The weather service issued a hazardous outlook for northeast and north central Colorado — northwest wind gusts on Sunday are expected to be between 30 to 40 mph over the higher mountains and will spread into the mountain valleys, foothills and across the northeast plains in the afternoon.

The outlook said Monday and Tuesday’s temperatures are expected to be dry and above seasonal temperatures, but a storm is expected to make its way to the mountains on Wednesday and Thursday that will start out as rainfall and could turn into significant snow in the plains.

In Denver, Wednesday night’s chance of rain is expected to turn to snow showers by the evening and bring “blustery” conditions, with a slight chance of snow showers into Thursday, according to the weather service.
