A state trooper was injured in a collision in southwestern Colorado on Wednesday as wintry weather hit the area.

The trooper was in his patrol car when it was hit by the driver of a Toyota, said Josh Lewis, a State Patrol spokesman.
The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on U.S. 160 in Montezuma County, Lewis said.
The trooper and the driver of the Toyota were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Snow was falling at the time of the incident, which is under investigation. The trooper’s patrol car was hit in the rear.
In March, Cpl. Dan Groves of the State Patrol was killed in the bomb cyclone that pounded Denver and northeastern Colorado. Groves, 52, was killed when he was struck on the side of Interstate 76 by a driver who apparently lost control of his vehicle during the blizzard.
