Construction work around Park Avenue, one of the main arteries out of downtown Denver, is expected to begin this week and last until July.

The Park Avenue bridge takes drivers in and out of the Ballpark area. The project will shut down two of the four northbound lanes to I-25 and other points north in the coming weeks.

That will create delays for the evening rush hour. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except for the hours during and before Rockies games.

Later, there will be partial closures of Delgany Street.

The Park Avenue bridge underwent emergency maintenance last year. The current work is the first phase of a larger project that is expected to extend the life of the 25-year-old bridge.

Later in the project, lane closures will affect drivers coming off Interstate 25 south into downtown on the bridge.
