Denver police have arrested a 34-year-old man in the Friday shooting death of a 24-year-old man in the Five Points neighborhood.
Kalvin Thompson has been arrested for investigation of first-degree murder in the death of Guan-Nyanyak Riek.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner announced Wednesday that Riek died of a gunshot wound and ruled the death a homicide, according to Steven Castro, spokesman for the Denver Office of Medical Examiner.
Thompson allegedly shot Riek Friday night in the 2300 block of Welton Street, Castro wrote in the news release.
Riek was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
