Altercation between substitute teacher and student at Denver middle school under investigation

Denver Public Schools will not use the substitute while Hamilton Middle School investigation is underway

Denver Public Schools is investigating an incident in which a substitute teacher allegedly got into an altercation with a student at Hamilton Middle School on Wednesday, authorities say.

Hamilton Principal Christian Sawyer sent a letter Wednesday to parents of Hamilton students saying that the school will no longer use the substitute until after a formal review.

The incident was , which obtained video of the incident.

“You may hear from your children about an incident involving a substitute teacher working with 7th grade students today,” Sawyer wrote to parents.

The name of the teacher has not been released.

“The student was not harmed,” said Anna Alejo, spokeswoman for Denver Public Schools.

Any possible disciplinary actions against the student have not been released.
