Lakewood police arrested an Aurora man Thursday in connection with a fatal stabbing in a motel on Colfax Avenue.

Police arrested Jesus Osvaldo Bernal, 35, in connection with the death of Alyghel “AJ” Badua, 41, according to a news release from police.

Officers responded at 10:46 a.m. Thursday to the motel in the 9000 block of West Colfax Avenue for a report of a stabbing. They found Badua with at least one stab wound. Badua died of his injuries at a hospital.

Bernal fled the motel, but police found him later that day.

He remained in custody Friday at the Jefferson County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
