One juvenile boy was ejected and killed when a speeding car crashed and rolled. A second juvenile boy was hospitalized early Thursday morning. Westminster police believe the boys had been using drugs.

The names of the boys have not been released. The injured juvenile was in good condition at a hospital, said Cheri Spottke, Westminster police spokeswoman.

“It’s just very sad,” Spottke said. “A child lost their life. It’s dangerous for anyone to be out at 2:45 a.m., especially when you are driving at high speed. We do believe drugs and high speed are a factor.”

Detectives are trying to determine whether the driver or the passenger was the one who was propelled out of the window and killed, Spottke said.

The youths were going westbound on 92nd Avenue at high speed when the vehicle veered onto the side of the road, hit a curb, crashed and rolled, Spottke said.
