Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling almost 200,000 pounds of chicken fritters that may be contaminated with materials, including hard plastic, some of which was distributed to schools.
Three consumers at schools have complained about finding material in the breaded chicken products. There have been no reports of injuries or illnesses due to the consumption of these products, said the U.S. Department of Agriculture in a news release.
The recall is for 190,757 pounds of Tyson’s fully cooked, whole grain golden crispy chicken chunk fritters. The recall affects foodservice customers in 29 states, including Colorado, Utah, Montana, Kansas and New Mexico. The products are not available for purchase in retail stores, according to a news release by the Arkansas-based company.
The agriculture department is advising that consumers who have purchased the chicken fritters, which were produced on Feb. 28, not serve them.
