Hello friends, and Happy Fourth of July.
As Coloradans around the state celebrate Independence Day, something is missing this year: Rockies baseball.
That’s right, the boys in purple have a day off, with no fireworks show at Coors Field. The Rockies did, however, take care of the fans by having back-to-back fireworks nights — just not with their bats.
For a team that almost always has a home game over the holiday, it’s odd the Rox have it as an off-day this time around. No doubt it is a welcome change for players and staff who get to enjoy the holiday like the rest of us.
To my friends at 20th and Blake, I hope y’all have a great day off.
If you are still looking for another fireworks show around town you’re in luck. The Denver Outlaws will host the Boston Cannons at 7 p.m. at Broncos Stadium, with fireworks to follow. The Colorado Rapids will also put on a pyrotechnics show after tonight’s match against the New England Revolution at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
So be safe, have a fun day, take in a fireworks show and enjoy the smell of America.
