Isolated severe thunderstorms could bring a few tornadoes, heavy rain, large hail, localized flooding and damaging winds on a day that will start off fairly sunny.

The high temperature Friday is expected to be around 82 degrees, said the National Weather Service in Boulder.

During daylight hours, there’s a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m. The chance for rain and thunderstorms increases to 50 percent at night, the NWS said.

“Storms will initiate over the mountains/foothills near 3 p.m. and track northeast through 8 p.m.,” the NWS said. “Strong to severe storms will form along and east of a Fort Collins-Denver-Castle Rock line.”

There is a slight chance for severe weather including tornadoes in Denver, the Front Range and most of the Eastern Plains.

“Stay alert! Have multiple ways of receiving warning information. Safest place is indoors,” the weather service said.

Thunderstorms and rain are likely on Saturday, mostly after 4 p.m. The high temperature will be around 80 degrees. The chance for precipitation is 70 percent, forecasters said.

The chance for stormy weather diminishes on Sunday, when it will be mostly sunny and warm, with a high temperature of about 87 degrees, the NWS said. The chance for rain is 30 percent.

Temperatures will top out in the upper 80s and lower 90s Monday through Thursday of next week, the NWS said.

The best chance for rain and thunderstorms next week will be on Monday, but forecasters said there is a chance for rain Tuesday through Thursday.
