Denver to cool down slightly on Thursday as summer storms continue

Slightly cooler temperatures and scattered thunderstorms and rain showers are forecast for the Denver metro area Thursday afternoon, National Weather Service meteorologists said.

It will be partly sunny with a high temperature of about 88 degrees. The chance for precipitation is 40 percent, the NWS said. The low temperature Thursday night will be about 62 degrees. Winds could gust up to 24 mph at night.

Heavy rain and isolated stronger storms are possible Thursday, the NWS said.

Scattered afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms are also possible on Friday, when the high temperature will be back into the 90s, peaking at about 93 degrees, the NWS said.

The best chance for rain and thunderstorms this week will be Saturday afternoon, forecasters said. Winds could gust up to 18 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance for rain.

Sunday will be slightly cooler than Saturday with a high of 88 degrees. Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are possible.

Temperatures will climb into the 90s between Monday and Wednesday, the weather service said. Rain and thunderstorms are possible every night during this period, the NWS said.
