An afternoon wind change could bring sporadic thunderstorms and rain showers out of the northeast on another hot summer day on Wednesday in Denver, National Weather Service forecasters said.
The high temperature is expected to be around 94 degrees, the NWS in Boulder said.
There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Winds initially out of the southwest could turn to a northeasterly direction in the afternoon, the NWS said. The chance for precipitation increases to 50 percent at night.
A few severe storms are possible in northeast Colorado with hail, heavy rain and damaging winds, the NWS said.

Rain showers are likely on Thursday afternoon in the Denver metro area, forecasters said. The chance for precipitation is 60 percent in the afternoon and 70 percent at night. The high temperature is expected to be about 85 degrees, the NWS said. Winds could gust as high as 17 percent.
Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are again likely on Friday, when there is a 70 percent chance for precipitation. Winds could gust up to 21 mph.
Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are also expected on the weekend with a 50 percent chance of precipitation on Saturday, the NWS said. Weekend temperatures will climb to the upper 80s and lower 90s on the weekend, forecasters said.
