A 33-year-old man has been extradited from Mexico to face first-degree murder charges in the stabbing and bludgeoning death of a Broomfield woman.

Ricardo Enrique Munoz-Diaz allegedly killed 33-year-old Amalia Karolina Lopez-Leon in a mobile home in October of 2015, according to a news release by 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Munoz-Diaz has been charged with first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree felony murder, aggravated robbery and second-degree burglary, the release said. He has also been charged with two counts of crimes of violence, a sentence enhancer.

Munoz-Diaz was advised of the charges on Monday in Broomfield District Court. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 20.
