Denver officers arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murder in a Saturday stabbing that killed one person and injured two others, according to the police department.

The Denver Police Department in the 1300 block of North Lowell Boulevard at 3:17 p.m. Saturday.

Paramedics took three people to the hospital, where one woman later died, police said in a 6:26 p.m. update. She will be identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

Robert Tafoya was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to . As of Sunday afternoon, he was being held in Denver’s Downtown Detention Center

The block where the stabbing happened is in Denver’s Mar Lee neighborhood, near the Lakewood Gulch.

Police said Tafoya and the victims knew each other, but did not specify the nature of their relationship.

Additional information about the stabbing was not immediately available on Sunday.
