Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Denver stabbing that killed 1, injured 2

Officers arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murder in a Denver stabbing that killed one person and injured two others on Saturday, according to the police department.

Denver police officers responded to the stabbing in the 1300 block of Lowell Boulevard, between West 13th Avenue and West 14th Avenue, at 2:24 p.m. Sunday, a spokesperson for the department said.

Paramedics took three people to the hospital, where one woman later died, police said in a 6:26 p.m. update. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner identified the victim as Sandra Vigil, 63.

Robert Tafoya was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to . As of Sunday afternoon, he was being held in Denver’s Downtown Detention Center.

The block where the stabbing happened is in Denver’s West Colfax neighborhood neighborhood, near the Lakewood Gulch.

Police said Tafoya and the victims knew each other, but did not specify the nature of their relationship.

Additional information about the stabbing was not immediately available on Sunday.
