Denver weather: Isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms

Temperatures expected to be above normal

Heavy rains, thunder and brisk winds gusting up to 40 mph are possible Wednesday as scattered storms move over the Denver metro area, the National Weather Service said.

There’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in Denver after 1 p.m., according to the NWS in Boulder. Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are possible until around 11 p.m., forecasters said.

It should be mostly sunny on Wednesday, with a high temperature near 93 degrees, the NWS said.

On Thursday afternoon, rain showers and thunderstorms are again possible in Denver.

It is expected to be hot, with temperatures rising to about 95 degrees, the NWS said. The chance for rain will increase to 40 percent in the evening, forecasters said.

Rain showers and thunderstorms are more likely on Friday, mainly in the afternoon. The chance for precipitation is 60 percent in the afternoon and 70 percent at night, the NWS said.

The high temperature on Friday is predicted to be around 88 degrees.

Rain showers are likely all day on Saturday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon, the NWS said. The high temperature should be around 85 degrees.

The chance for rain showers and thunderstorms diminishes on Sunday, when the high temperature is expected to hit around 83 degrees.
