Denverites may still be experiencing 90-degree heat, but winter is coming to the High Country.
Trail Ridge Road, the iconic, high-altitude pass-through in Rocky Mountain National Park, will close Wednesday night due to weather, the National Park Service said on Twitter.
The closure, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will go from Milner Pass on the west side, about 12 miles from the Grand Lake entrance, to Rainbow Curve on the east side, the tweet said.
for Trail Ridge/Alpine Visitor Center call for snow showers overnight, with lows down to 29 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Old Fall River Road, also in Rocky Mountain National Park, will close Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the park service said.
National Park officials did not say when they expect the roads to reopen.
