Inspired by the wild success of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week — an annual week-long block of shark-centric programming that first aired in 1988 — the third season of Deer Week will air in prime time beginning Monday, Sept. 16, on the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel.
Hosted by Jeff Danker, who has been the TV host of “BuckVentures” since 2003, and country musician Jon Langston, will encompass 35 hours of programming on the two channels over a seven-day period. Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel are subsidiaries of Denver-based Kroenke Sports & Entertainment.
“Itap people from all over the world that you’re going to see,” Danker said on a swing through Denver last month. “Itap people we can all relate to, just real average Joes, on television doing what they love. These people, this is their lives. You’re sitting in on somebody’s life, somebody’s passion. This isn’t, ‘We’re going to go hunting so we can be on TV.’ This is, ‘We’re going hunting, and ‘Oh, there’s some cameras.’ “
Langston jumped at the chance to work with Danker on Deer Week.
“I’ve been on camera with interviews and what not, being in the music industry, but to be able to do something in another part of my life and love to do was really cool,” said Langston, who toured this year with country superstar Luke Bryan. “We just hit it off. When people watch Deer Week, they’ll just see two buddies having a good time and celebrating the outdoors.”
