Cherry Creek earned a win when they beat Pomona 31-17 on Friday, Sept. 20.
Julian Hammond iii powered Cherry Creek’s passing attack with 153 yards through the air. Chase Penry lead all Cherry Creek receivers with seven catches for 94 yards.
Jayle Stacks lead the Cherry Creek ground game by running for 111 yards and two touchdowns in the game, averaging 7.4 yards per carry.
Pomona quarterback Brady Ritzmann led the passing attack with 180 yards through the air, throwing two touchdowns and one interception. Pomona’s leading receiver was Chase Lopez, who caught four passes for 107 yards and one score. Jack Pospisil got in on the action in the passing game as well, snagging six balls for 55 yards and one touchdown.
Ben Cruz paced all Pomona rushers with 87 yards in the game, averaging 7.9 yards per carry.
Both teams will go on the road in their next contest, with Cherry Creek heading to play Chaparral and Pomona taking on Highlands Ranch.
