Sargent couldn’t quite keep up with a strong Mancos squad, losing by a score of 58-31 on Friday, Sept. 20.
Breccen Morelli led Mancos’ passing attack with 81 yards through the air, throwing one touchdown and one interception. Morelli also added 41 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Chase Moore was also Mancos’ leading receiver on the day.
Moore spearheaded the Mancos rushing attack by finishing with 398 yards and four touchdowns in the contest, averaging 22.1 yards per carry. Moore also tacked on 72 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Kage Pepper powered Sargent’s passing attack with 154 yards through the air. Pepper also added 194 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Payton Brown was also Sargent’s leading receiver on the day.
In addition to Pepper’s effort, Blake Behil paced the Sargent rushing attack by accumulating 72 yards and one touchdown in the contest. Behil also tacked on 45 receiving yards. Brown contributed 55 yards , averaging 6.9 yards per carry, in addition to 61 receiving yards.
In their next games, Mancos will stay home and play Del Norte, while Sargent will travel to play Dolores Huerta Prep.
