Coal Ridge narrowly lost to Paonia in a 17-14 showdown on Friday, Sept. 20.

Paonia’s ground game was paced by Grey Neal who racked up 38 yards in the contest, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.

Coal Ridge quarterback Karsen DuBois led the passing attack with 68 yards through the air. DuBois also added 30 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Karsen DuBois’ most relied on target in the game was Jordon Grant, who caught two passes for 34 yards.

Damian Spell spearheaded the Coal Ridge ground game by gaining 88 yards and one touchdown in the game, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

Both teams will go on the road in their next contest, with Paonia heading to play Basalt and Coal Ridge taking on Rifle.
