It’s been a rough start to the Vic Fangio era.
The Broncos lost their third straight game to open the 2019 regular season, a 27-16 loss to the Packers in Green Bay, Wis. Turnovers plagued Denver’s chances to win. Plus — this is crazy — after three games, the defense has yet to record a sack or force a turnover.
But there’s hope for you optimists out there: Since 1970, six teams have started 0-3 and clawed their way back into the playoffs. How about 0-4? Just one — the ’92 Chargers.
Here’s what you may have missed from the game:
- “I have to say this is one of the cleanest games my jersey has ever looked,” Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after the game. Ryan O’Halloran takes an in-depth look at Denver’s loss in his analysis.
- Tell us how you really feel, Kiz. In his latest column, Mark Kiszla writes: “These Broncos are unwatchable, nearly unrecognizable to anyone who remembers their Super Bowl glory and an insult to a legacy the late, great Pat Bowlen spent a lifetime building.”
- Here’s a breakdown of Denver’s best and worst performances against the Packers.
- Status Report: Maybe the offense isn’t the biggest problem.
- Speaking of the offense, Phillip Lindsay provided an offensive spark, scoring two touchdowns on Sunday.
- Cornerback De’Vante Bausby took advantage of his playing time on defense.
- “This season is far from over”: Todd Davis made his long-awaited season debut for the Broncos and remains confident after the loss.
- Rough day for Derek Wolfe. The defensive lineman was carted off after suffering a leg injury.
- Several highlights to revisit, from Phillip Lindsay’s first touchdown run to Joe Flacco connecting with Courtland Sutton for a 52-yard pass. Oh, and Dalton Risner throwing Lindsay into the end zone for another TD.
