Lakewood police reopened all eastbound lanes of U.S. 6 after hours of closure during morning rush hour due to a crash that killed a pedestrian.

Police closed the highway shortly before 7 a.m. after a car struck and killed a woman walking near the highway’s intersection with Sheridan Boulevard. The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Lakewood police spokesman Paul Osckel said.

Drivers had called 911 shortly before the crash to report a woman walking on the median, he said.

Police reopened all lanes before 10 a.m., Osckel said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
