Steamboat Springs couldn’t quite keep up with a strong Hotchkiss squad, losing by a score of 41-6 on Friday.
Yahir Chavez led Hotchkiss’ passing attack with 60 yards through the air. Chavez also added 50 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Chavez’s favorite receiver in the contest was Jacob Palecki, who caught one pass for 34 yards.
Hotchkiss’ rushing game was spearheaded by Jace Peebles who ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the game, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Traycer Hall added 63 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 12.6 yards per carry.
Steamboat Springs’ rushing attack was lead by Finn Russell who tallied 53 yards in the contest, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Hotchkiss hosting Paonia and Steamboat Springs taking on Palisade.
