Canon City couldn’t quite keep up with a strong Erie squad, losing by a score of 35-7 on Friday.
Gavin Mendoza led Erie’s passing attack with 81 yards through the air, throwing two touchdowns without an interception. Erie’s leading receiver was Grayson Schenbeck, who caught one pass for 42 yards.
Mason Veve paced all Erie rushers with 159 yards and two touchdowns in the game, averaging 7.2 yards per carry.
Harrison Pilafas powered Canon City’s passing attack with 114 yards through the air. Raymond Cammel was also Canon City’s leading receiver on the day.
Cammel paced the Canon City rushing attack by racking up 169 yards and one touchdown in the game, averaging 7 yards per carry. Cammel also tacked on 46 receiving yards.
Erie will play host to Mead, while Canon City will travel to play Sand Creek.
