Granada couldn’t quite keep up with a strong Cheyenne Wells squad, losing by a score of 76-36 on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Kyle Nelson led Cheyenne Wells’ aerial attack with 139 yards through the air. Cheyenne Wells’ leading receiver was Evan Worley, who caught three passes for 60 yards and one score. Cheyenne Wells also got 51 yards receiving and one touchdown from Preston Hernandez in the contest.
Cade Mitchek spearheaded the Cheyenne Wells ground game by running for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the game, averaging 20.8 yards per carry. Mitchek also tacked on 54 receiving yards. Quade Pelton added 102 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, averaging 12.8 yards per carry, as well as one receiving touchdown.
Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Cheyenne Wells hosting Kit Carson and Granada taking on Cheraw.
