Westminster earned a win when they beat Denver East 27-22 on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Romeo Rodriguez led Westminster’s passing attack with 149 yards through the air, throwing two touchdowns and one interception. Rodriguez also added one touchdown on the ground. Westminster’s leading receiver was Gilbert Bujanda, who caught four passes for 68 yards and two scores. Gage Ware contributed in the passing game as well, reeling in two passes for 61 yards.

Ezequiel Loera spearheaded the Westminster ground game by gaining 87 yards in the game, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

Dylan Wigglesworth powered Denver East’s passing attack with 411 yards through the air, throwing three touchdowns and one interception. Jay Barry lead all Denver East receivers with 10 catches for 156 yards. Aaron Franklin got in on the action in the passing game as well, grabbing five balls for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Quentin Cooper spearheaded the Denver East rushing attack by gaining 32 yards in the contest, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.

Both teams will go on the road in their next contest, with Westminster heading to play Mountain Range and Denver East taking on Smoky Hill.
