A suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Aurora has been arrested, police said.

Jackson Donald, 23, of Aurora, has been arrested on suspicion of accidents involving death or personal injuries, according to police.

At about 6:40 a.m. Saturday, a woman was hit and killed by a vehicle as she crossed East Iliff Avenue near Interstate 225, according to police. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

The woman had been in a separate two-vehicle collision and had gotten out of her vehicle to talk with the other driver when she was hit, police.

Based on witness information, investigators were looking for a black, late-model Nissan Altima and they found a possible suspect vehicle registered to a driver at an apartment complex not far from the crash, police said. The car had sustained front-end damage in the incident.

Police said on Monday that Donald is being held on the felony charge in the case.
