Cooler temperatures and strong wind gusts are forecast Sunday for Denver, with snow and gusty winds in the mountains likely making travel difficult.
Denver’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies — and wind gusts up to 48 mph — with a high near 50 degrees and a low around 31 degrees with gusts as high as 44 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
White-out conditions are likely in the mountains, especially near the ridges and passes, the weather service said. Icy and snowy conditions are expected with snowfall up to 4 inches in some areas.
High fire danger is still expected near the Palmer Divide with low humidities.

Periods of snow combined w/strong west winds in the mountains will make for slow & difficult driving conditions thru early Sunday afternoon. White-out conditions will be likely, especially near the passes & ridges. Conditions will improve later this afternoon.

Strong winds over the Front Range foothills and adjacent plains are likely through the afternoon with gusts up to 75 mph, according to the weather service’s hazardous weather outlook. Winds are also expected to increase over the northeast plains in the afternoon with gusts up to 65 mph along with blow dust, the outlook stated.
