Eldora will open on Nov. 1, two weeks ahead of its previously scheduled Nov. 15 open. This is the ski area’s earliest first day in 22 years and is three weeks ahead of its average.
The Nederland mountain’s six-person Alpenglow chairlift will start at 9 a.m. Eldora said it anticipates offering intermediate and advanced terrain, as well as some Woodward Mountain Park features and private lessons. The mountain’s Nordic Center and uphill routes will not be available.
The announcement came Thursday afternoon, the same day the mountain saw 15 inches of snowfall.
Eldora made sure to note that it will continue to offer free parking this year. Last year, the ski area caused an uproar among local skiers and boarders when it started .
Also on Thursday, Wolf Creek announced that it would be opening on Oct. 31, one day earlier than planned.
