Three people were shot and wounded in two separate incidents in Downtown Denver early Friday morning.
The shootings don’t appear to be connected and none of the injuries are life threatening, said Doug Schepman, police spokesperson.
In the first incident, a man and woman were shot at 14th and Market streets at 2:03 a.m. Police arrested 18-year-old Mikal Newton for investigation of first-degree assault in connection with the shooting.
UPDATE: An adult male suspect has been arrested in the shooting that occurred at 14th St./Market St. and the two victims appear to be in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Newton allegedly used a semi-automatic handgun to fire multiple rounds, a Denver Police Department arrest affidavit said. An officer working off-duty security heard the shots and saw Newton holding the gun and moving from an open passenger door into the backseat of a Hyundai sedan, the affidavit said. The officer took Newton into custody.
At 2:34 a.m. another man was shot during a “verbal altercation,” at 19th and Blake streets, Schepman said. A man fled the scene on foot.
Alert: Officers are on-scene at 19th St./Blake St. investigating a shooting. An adult male sufferered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was transported to the hospital. The circumstances and suspect info remain under investigation; no arrest(s) at this time.

Police have not yet identified the man they arrested and provided no suspect information for the second shooter.
Police are investigating both incidents.
