Regis University, which advised students to shelter in place Monday night after a man with a gun was spotted nearby, opened Tuesday morning telling students to report for classes and work normally.

Denver police said on Tuesday morning that the Adams County Sheriff’s Office was handling the case.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Paul Gregory said deputies searched for a man who was reported to have made “suicidal comments” before leaving a home with a rifle. He didn’t know if that report was connected to the armed man near the campus.

Deputies didn’t locate the man.

Denver Police warned the Campus Safety office of an armed man near the campus at about 10 p.m. on Monday.
