Firefighters worked to contain a fuel spill Tuesday night in the Park Meadows area of Lone Tree.
The spill, of more than 25 gallons, happened at 9010 Park Meadows Drive, said Connor Wist, a South Metro Fire spokesperson.
The spill happened when a vehicle hit a gas pump, Wist said. The driver fled from the scene. The spill is contained but some fuel found its way into a nearby storm drain. Officials are concerned about a possible threat to nearby Willow Creek.
Park Meadows Dr. Update 2: A driver hit the gas pump at 7-Eleven and drove off, causing the initial spill. Firefighters are using a gas monitor to check the gas levels in the air around the gas station. They are also using material to absorb the fuel spill.
