A massive crash closed lanes in both directions of Interstate 25 south of Ridgegate Parkway in Douglas County.
The Colorado State Patrol reported that multiple vehicles were involved and multiple people were injured in the crash. The crash happened because of ice on the roads, the state patrol said on Twitter.
South Metro Fire Rescue said 12 people were taken to area hospitals from the multi-vehicle crash, at least one with serious injuries.

Three southbound lanes were blocked, and the northbound left lane also closed.
All lanes reopened at about 7:45 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Roads remain icy and slower speeds are advised.
