Between tourists and those of us scrambling to find something to do with visiting family, the holidays are a busy time for museums and cultural institutions. But this week, the weather may be throwing a wrench in your holiday plans to visit some of Denver’s cultural landmarks.

A major winter storm, rolling in Monday night and dumping snow on the region through Tuesday, is forecast to dump 8-16 inches of snow on metro Denver, according to Monday afternoon . Travelers have been advised to hold off on Thanksgiving travel until snow subsides, and those who are able to stay home and off the roads on Tuesday have been encouraged to hunker down.

Somebody get that sea lion a scarf or some earmuffs — not because he needs it, but because that sounds pretty cute and we would kinda like to see a photo of that.
  • Denver Botanic Gardens — both locations — will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 26 and will reopen Wednesday, Nov. 27, .
  • Lost City, the coffee shop that recently took over the former Black Black Coffee location in the Taxi development in Globeville, will close Tuesday and reopen Wednesday, .
