A fatal accident has caused the closure of Interstate 70 in both directions between Dowd Junction and Post Boulevard.
There are multiple other crashes in that area and hazardous materials teams are on the scene, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The closure is expected to last for the majority of the day.
The accident involved multiple vehicles including at least one tractor trailer, said Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis.
One person is dead.
U.S. Route 6 is the alternate route.
Roads are treacherous and “to put it mildly” there are many accidents, Lewis said
