Crews from three rural fire companies are battling a blaze in a barn containing 800 tons of hay in Weld County.
No injuries have been reported and no animals have been harmed in the fire which broke out at 4:39 a.m. and was contained but still active after 7 a.m. Thursday.
Preliminary estimates of damages are from $240,000 to $250,000, according to Chief Matt Concialdi, of Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Department.
County Road 19 from Weld County Road 26 to 28 will be closed due to fire operations for an extended period of time.
Platteville-Gilcrest Fire received a report of the fire. Fire crews from Fort Lupton and Frederick Firestone Fire are assisting Platteville-Gilcrest with the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
