A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in prison this week for the brutal stabbing of his wife, according to a Friday news release from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
Alan Scott Evans appeared in Jefferson County District Court on Wednesday where he was sentenced for the March 2018 stabbing in Lakewood.
Lakewood police responded to the stabbing at 2583 S. Everett Court on a report of a man with a knife, the news release said. Officers heard screaming when they arrived, went inside and found Evans with blood on his hands, beard and clothing.
Evans’ 33-year-old wife was found bleeding in a bedroom with 15 stab wounds and cuts, the news release read.
Evans was taken into custody.
Evans told his wife earlier in the evening that he had relapsed on methamphetamine, prompting an argument, the district attorney’s office said. After leaving the house for a while, Evans returned to find a locked bedroom door, which he then kicked open and began to stab his wife, officials said.
The victim continues to suffer from the impact of the stabbing, the district attorney’s office said.
Evans pleaded guilty to attempted murder and one violent crime count in October.
