Kickin’ It with Kiz: The Broncos’ No. 1 problem? Not enough talent worthy of Pro Bowl consideration.

Getting your player ready...

I feel Broncos linebacker didn’t deserve a pick. The honor should have gone to someone more deserving on the team.

J.C., demands recount

Kiz: OK, apountry. Take a deep breath. Inhale and slowly let out your frustration. Yes, receiver and safety were worthy of selection to the Pro Bowl, more so than Miller. Here’s the deal: A player often gets to the Pro Bowl one season later than deserved, while a reputation built by a great career often earns a star on the decline an invitation one year later than deserved (ahem, Von.) There’s a far larger issue facing Denver, though. To be a truly legit contender, I believe a team needs at least five Pro Bowl players. Yes, the Broncos have a solid young core. But can you name me five players with multiple Pro Bowl appearances in their future?

Here’s your list of future Pro Bowl players: Cornerback Chris Harris Jr., quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, running back , outside linebacker , Simmons, Sutton and Miller.

Zach, making a list

Kiz: Kudos to you. Thatap an excellent list. But when I check it twice, there are two players over age 30 (Miller and Harris), as well as two impending free agents (Simmons and Harris). Whatap more, the Pro Bowl quarterbacks from the AFC are young guns: , Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson. Rising to the truly elite level will be a huge challenge for Lock.

I would assume is doing the same thing in contract negotiations with Simmons that he’s done for years, which is low-balling anyone and everyone. I selfishly hope Simmons stays, but I wouldn’t blame him for running if Elway isn’t willing to fork out the dough.

M.F., fair-minded individual

Kiz: Free agency will grant Simmons the opportunity to give Elway’s vision for the future a big thumbs-up or a vote of no confidence.

I and many of my longtime fellow Colorado State alums have been huge supporters of the football program. Unfortunately, athletic director Joe Parker and crew made another bad coaching hire. If the Rams had hired former Rams running back Tony Alford like they should have, the program would have become relevant again.

Kristi, Denver

Kiz: CSU built a $220 million stadium as the front door to the university. Does that make the football team the doormat?

And today’s parting shot wants us to forget the last time Kansas City visited the was nearly 50 years ago.

So Kiz … Over the past four years, when Kansas City has owned the Broncos, you’ve always made a big deal about calling the Chiefs “soft” on defense. It has been tough to hear, but sometimes the truth hurts. I would, however, call the much-improved 2019 K.C. defense the opposite of soft. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo held the Broncos to nine points in two games, stopped their running game and sacked their quarterback silly. How about some love for the Chiefs?
