
Mountain travelers will be delayed on Interstate 70 on Wednesday as Colorado transportation employees conduct rockfall mitigation at Idaho Springs following a series of recent rockslides, state officials said.
There will be periodic traffic holds between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday for rockfall mitigation, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Traffic closures will be between Exit 238 at Fall River Road and Exit 239 along Idaho Springs, the news release said.
A series of rockfalls near Idaho Springs around Thanksgiving repeatedly triggered I-70 closures.
I-70 EB/WB: Planned closure between Exit 238 – Fall River Rd and Exit 239 – Idaho Springs. Periodic traffic holds between the hours of 9AM and 3PM for rockfall mitigation. Expect delays.
